Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey will be offered new contracts in the summer.

  • Ox has made 38 appearances this season
  • Ramsey has suffered 3 injuries
  • Gibbs has played just 296 minutes in the Premier League this season
  • Wilshere’s featured 26 times for Bournemouth

The boss is keen to keep Arsenal’s ‘British core’ together, which means the club will be offering them new contracts.

“Yes (Arsenal will offer them new contracts),” Wenger confirmed.

“We still have a group of young players but we have to keep them all.

“We have Ramsey, Chamberlain, Wilshere, Gibbs. All these players, we have to make decisions and manage to keep them together.”

Ramsey, Gibbs, Ox and Wilshere’s contracts run out in June 2018, the same as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, and it seems that all negotiations will take place over the summer once the season’s come to an end.

It won’t be easy, as all of the players’ situations at the club are different.

Wilshere is doing well out on loan at Bournemouth; Gibbs is still behind Nacho Monreal in the pecking order, and Ramsey can barely stay fit for more than a handful of games. The Ox is the only player getting regular game time but even he’s reportedly still looking for a move despite Wenger insisting that Arsenal have to keep him.

If Wenger really wants to keep all the players together, he might have his work cut out.
