Arsene Wenger believes that Arsenal’s second half performance against Manchester City during their FA Cup semi-final win proved that the Gunners do have spirit.
- Goals from Monreal and Alexis cancelled out City’s from Aguero
- Arsenal dominated second half and were far stronger in extra time
- Wenger believes Gunners showed the spirit people say they’ve been lacking
Following a brilliant second half and extra time fight-back, which saw Arsenal come from 1-0 down to 2-1 up, Wenger celebrated by screaming at the sky and pumping his fists.

It was the celebration of a man who loves Arsenal, football and winning. Especially in the FA Cup.
“I’m proud of the performance and the spirit they’ve shown,” Wenger said post-match.
“I believe we’ve given a good answer to people who questioned that.
“Overall, I think we became stronger when we went (1-0) down.
“In the first half we were maybe a bit cautious, accepting to be dominated, but in the second half we became stronger and stronger, and in the end we won the game.
“I feel that it was a very tight game but overall after the second half we deserved to win the game.”
Arsenal have a long way to go before fans will truly believe they’ve turned a corner after their shambolic performances in the league this season but at least they’re trying.
