Great news everyone: Spurs could put any possibility of St. Totteringham’s Day to bed if they win the North London Derby at White Hart Lane!
- Spurs v Arsenal kicks off at 4:30pm, April 30
- Arsenal and Tottenham drew 1-1 in November
- Gunners set to finish below Spurs for first time since 1995
Just as you thought it was safe to start considering that maybe, just maybe, this season might not get any worse, I’m here to burst your bubble.
Spurs could make it impossible for Arsenal to finish above them if they win the North London Derby at the end of the month.
That’s right. Basically, it’s the closest they’ll ever get to winning the league at White Hart Lane, something Arsenal have already done.
You see, at the moment, the Gunners’ north London rivals are 14 points ahead after beating Watford and Arsenal losing to Crystal Palace. Both teams have two games to play between now and the derby, so, assuming they both win maximum points, a win against Arsenal will land Spurs 17 points ahead with just 15 left to play for until the end of the season.
To be fair, although Spurs will probably beat Bournemouth and Palace, Arsenal have Middlesbrough and Leicester, so Spurs’ equivalent of St. Totteringham’s Day may happen earlier.
