Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ‘encouraged’ by their apparent talks with Alexis Sanchez and are now looking at Mesut Ozil as well.

  • PSG set to table £46m bid for Alexis following encouraging talks
  • Wenger prefers PSG move over Chelsea or Manchester City
  • Ozil also on PSG’s radar

In the last week, it appears that PSG’s allegedly interest in Alexis has been ramped up a notch with the Ligue 1 giants reportedly holding talks with the Chilean already.

They’re said to be encouraged by these said ‘talks’ and Arsenal are supposedly ‘braced’ for a bid of £46m, which is below the Gunners’ rumoured asking price of £50m but at least it’s in the right ballpark.

As we reported yesterday, Bertrand Metayer, PSG’s specialist with Le Parisien, believes the French club’s interest in Alexis is serious, saying, “Yes, it is serious.

“There have been exchanges between the club and the player’s representatives.

“In the meantime, it is not a done deal. Talks are carrying on.

“But it is certain that his profile is liked by the Paris deciders (ie club officials who will make transfer decisions).

Arsene Wenger would also rather the forward go to PSG than a rival, like Chelsea or Manchester City, who are both also said to be very interested.

PSG are also reportedly monitoring Mesut Ozil’s situation at Arsenal as he’s said to be stalling on a new deal, just like Alexis. However, there doesn’t seem to have been any genuine approach over the playmaker.

Both Alexis and Ozil’s deals run out in June 2018 and if neither are agreeing to a new contract, Arsenal will have to sell them this summer if they hope to make any money on their two star players.

It sounds as if Alexis is a little further out the door than Ozil but I could be wrong.
