Emil Forsberg wants to stay at RB Leipzig but would prefer a move to Liverpool over Arsenal.

  • Forsberg signed for Leipzig from Malmö FF in 2015
  • Scored 8 and assisted 17 in Bundesliga this season
  • Recently signed new contract
  • Player’s happy where he is
  • His dad supported Liverpool

Forsberg has been on-fire for Leipzig this season, scoring eight Bundesliga goals and bagging 17 assists, which has led to attention from other clubs, namely Arsenal, who are reportedly ready to offer £20m to bring the winger to north London.

What’s more is Leipzig, as well as Benfica and Sevilla, are set to play in the Emirates cup at the beginning of next season, leading to further speculation over potential transfer deals.

Forsberg, however, is quite happy where he is, and if he was to move to an English club, it would be to Liverpool.

“I’ll stay,” he told Bild [via Afton Bladet].

“Right now I can not think of a better club.

“Anything can happen in football but I have extended my contract with the club because I really like working in Leipzig.

“It makes my wife (happy) as well, which is most important.

“Leipzig felt right from the beginning and that is the important thing.”

He added, “In my childhood it was Liverpool because my dad was a big supporter. I slept in Liverpool bedding, but also Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“Today there are still teams I like more, but when you play for yourself, it’s usually your first club that is the favorite.”

The 25-year-old only recently signed a new deal with Leipzig, which doesn’t expire until 2022.
