Marseille are reportedly interested in taking Mathieu Debuchy off Arsenal’s hands.

  • Debuchy in search of playing time
  • Only played 16 minutes in Premier League this season
  • Worked with Marseille manager Garcia before at Lille
  • Arsenal looking to offload the 31-year-old

Debuchy has only played once this season when he played for 16 minutes against Bournemouth before having to leave the pitch with a hamstring injury.

The right-back has made it crystal clear that he doesn’t want to remain at Arsenal if he’s not going to get more game time, even claiming that Arsene Wenger blocked a move for the defender to join Manchester United, which the boss denies.

Therefore, despite having two years left on his current Arsenal deal, it’s very likely that the club will be looking to offload him this summer.

Marseille manager, Rudi Garcia, used to be in charge of Lille while Debuchy was there, so it stands to reason that the 31-year-old would see more game time if he moved to the Ligue 1 club.

With Arsenal wanting to get rid of the player, the player wanting to move and Marseille reportedly wanting to buy the player, the deal looks to beneficial for everyone involved.
