Lucas Perez’s agent has denied the player has been in talks with Deportivo over a return to Spain this summer.

  • Lucas currently sidelined with a thigh problem
  • Agent says Lucas only thinking about Arsenal ‘right now’ and leaves door open for ‘talks’ in the summer
  • Spaniard has averaged a goal or assist every 79 minutes for Arsenal

Lucas has been out of action since mid-March through injury – his second problem of what has been an interrupted season.

When he has been fit and actually selected, Lucas has impressed, but seems unable to convince Arsene Wenger that he deserves to be anything more than a bit-part player.

Stories, therefore, linking him with a move away are easy to imagine and quick to spread.

Lucas’s agent has already denied that the Spaniard wants to move away from Arsenal this summer, and now he has come out to deny this latest story.

“It’s not true and we haven’t been talking with anyone,” Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle told Goal.

“Lucas has three years left on his contract with Arsenal.

“In the summer when the season is finished we can talk.

“But right now we are only thinking about Arsenal.”

That certainly doesn’t sound like Lucas is 100% set for an Arsenal stay and it’s hard not to have a lot of sympathy with him.

He’s good enough to be playing at a decent level regularly, at least when fit.

Can Arsene Wenger promise him that?

Will he?
