Arsenal appear to be on the verge of signing Sead Kolasinac.

  • Kolasinac already had medical
  • Schalke deal runs out 30 June
  • Deal ‘95% done’
  • Set to replace Nacho Monreal in starting line-up

As we reported yesterday, according to Bleacherreport, Kolasinac has had his medical and his deal to Arsenal is ’95 per cent done’.

While other clubs, like AC Milan, Manchester City, Spurs and Everton, were apparently all interested in signing the Schalke left-back, it seems that Arsenal have pipped everyone to the post and the 23-year-old will be playing in north London next season.

Kolasinac’s Schalke contract runs out on 30 June, which means he’s allowed to agree a deal and even announce it now.

The Bosnia international is expected to replace Nacho Monreal in Arsenal’s starting line-up, which would mean that Mohamed Elneny’s tweet yesterday makes a lot more sense.

The midfielder replied to Monreal’s joke about being Arsenal’s new striker after he scored against City in the FA Cup and then had his shot lead to an own goal against Leicester.

At first Elneny’s reply, cheekily saying that the Spaniard would never score again, seems a bit odd but when you consider the players probably know more than the fans when it comes to new signings, for example, a new left-back, it makes sense.
