Insanely fast midfielder signs new contract but Arsenal still linked

Even though he has just signed a contract extension, Jakub Jankto is still being chased by many ‘high profile clubs’ according to TMW in Italy.

  • The Udinese midfielder put pen to paper on a new deal that will tie him to the club until 2021
  • Arsenal have been scouting the player for a while now and although he has signed a new deal, this is no guarantee that he will remain with the Italians.
  • The 21-year old has also expressed a desire to play abroad.

Reports started to emerge at the start of 2016 that Arsenal were interested in the player after a loan spell with Ascoli but nothing came of their interest and the player remained with his parent club and his loyalty and talent has been rewarded with 23 league appearances this season.

It seems that Jankto would also be open to a move to England.

“It’s not the time to talk about it yet but I can see myself playing outside Italy, if we talk about the long-term,” he said.

“I’d like to try new experiences, maybe in the Premier League or La Liga.”

Interestingly, these comments seem very familiar. In fact, Jankto said something similar not long before those comments.

“I want to play abroad, to try some new experience. I’m curious, I want to know other things,” the defensive midfielder told Tuttomercatoweb via talkSPORT at the end of March.

“I certainly do not see myself in Italy too long, certainly not up to 25 years.”

Unless these are the same comments that have been changed slightly through different translations and are just getting recycled now, it seems that the youngster really wants a move…

It should be no surprise that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on him. He has shown great ability so far in his short career and with Santi Cazorla not getting any younger fitter and Arsene Wenger loving a midfielder more than life itself, this could be a rumour worth paying attention to.
