Olivier Giroud’s agent has denied there is anything going on between the player and Marseille after reports emerged that Rudi Garcia had been on the phone to him.

  • Agent denies links but casts doubt over Giroud’s Arsenal future
  • Player recently signed a new deal with Arsenal until 2019
  • Giroud is averaging a goal every 88 minutes in the Premier League this season

This week it was claimed that Marseille manager, Rudi Garcia, had spoken to Olivier Giroud ‘several times’, sounding him out about a move to the club.

After that report appeared in France Football, Giroud’s agent spoke to Le Figaro to make his denial.

“It’s a lie, there’s nothing going on between the player and Marseille,” Michael Manuello said. “I can’t say that nothing will happen this summer, but currently, it’s not a topic of discussion”.

Giroud is, understandably, frustrated with losing his starting spot in the Arsenal lineup.

If the changes at Arsenal this summer are to be as sweeping as Gazidis and co, would like us to believe, it’s hard to think that he will be restored to the starting lineup, despite his goal record this season.
