Andy Cole, who started life as a footballer at Arsenal before making a name with himself with Newcastle United and Manchester United, has undergone a kidney transplant.

  • Cole was at Arsenal from 1989 – 1992
  • He scored 121 goals in 275 appearances for Manchester United
  • In total, he scored 271 career goals in 624 games

Suffering kidney failure in 2014 after contracting a virus, Cole underwent the procedure at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

A statement issued by United simply read, ‘Andrew and his family request that he can continue his treatment in private, and ask that their privacy is respected.’
