Hector Bellerin claims he’s a fan of Arsenal’s new formation and believes it’s good to switch up the system once in a while.

  • Bellerin returned to starting line-up v Foxes
  • Thinks 3-4-3 is working well
  • Believes Arsenal need to keep switching things up to make other teams ‘think’

After being dropped for Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City on Sunday, Bellerin was back in Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up to face Leicester on Wednesday night.

Despite a dip in form since returning from an injury in January, the right-back was actually Arsenal’s second highest rated player on WhoScored.com (7.6), just behind Laurent Koscielny (7.7). Therefore, it seems that Bellerin is adapting well to Wenger’s new 3-4-3 formation.

Although Arsenal did switch back to their usual 4-2-3-1 formation in the second half against Leicester, it seems that the manager wants to stick 3-4-3 for a bit longer, which Bellerin has no problems with.

“You know, for the style of play that the team has, it works really well,” the 22-year-old said.

“Sometimes you’ve just got to keep switching system and make the other teams just think about it for a second and I think the team is doing really good.

“No matter what system we play, I think the team is performing so we’ve just got to keep it going and enjoy every minute of it.”

Most teams know how to beat Arsenal these days so actually adapting and switching up tactics is not only sensible, it’s completely necessary. It’s just a shame Wenger took so long to realise.

Will 3-4-3 work long-term? Maybe not. But at least we’re trying now.
