According to reports Barcelona are keen on signing Hector Bellerin and are prepared to offer Arda Turan in a potential swap.

  • Bellerin is under contract with Arsenal until 2023
  • Arda Turan is under contract with Barcelona until 2020
  • Bellerin is 22, Turan 30

The Catalans are desperate to sign Arsenal’s right back, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, as their right flank has been the weakest link in their team since the departure of Dani Alves.

With Bellerin extending his contract just last November, Arsenal are determined to keep the 22-year-old at The Emirates for the foreseeable future and he, in turn, seems in no rush to leave.

Considering the fact that Bellerin came from Barcelona academy, if the player decides to return to his youth club, things could get very complicated for Arsene Wenger, as the wounds from Fabregas’ departure are still fresh for some fans.

Arda Turan has not lived up to expectations since joining Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in 2015 for €35m, and the Catalans are more than willing to lose him if that means the Bellerin deal would go through.

If the Gunners do decide to go ahead with the deal, they would have to work on finding a replacement as the current options don’t provide enough quality.

With Turan joining there would be plenty of depth in midfield area, with the Turk able to play in a couple of positions on the wing and central midfield. The likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ramsey would face stern competition for a first team spot.

Turan has shown great skills with Atletico Madrid, but has faced some sort of downfall since joining Barcelona, and a transfer to Arsenal could certainly reignite the player’s ability to cut defences open with his speed and dribbling abilities.

All that being said, swap deals rarely ever materialise and Bellerin is going nowhere.
