Arsenal scouts were reportedly watching Benfica’s Konstantinos Mitroglou during the Portuguese side’s 3-3 draw against Estoril.

  • Mitroglou sign for Fulham from Olympiacos for £12m
  • Mitroglou was at Fulham from 2014-2016
  • Mitroglou scored no goals for Fulham
  • This season, Mitroglou has scored 25 goals in all competitions

The former Fulham striker was actually left out of the Benfica squad on the day, which Record [via Sport Witness] claims the Arsenal scouts were already aware of.

During his time at Fulham, Mitroglou made just three appearances, having suffered with a long-term knee injury. He spent a loan spell at Olympiacos where he scored 16 league goals in 24 appearances, and another at Benfica where he scored 16 in 24, before he signed for the club permanently in 2016.

Although he’s had a good season, scoring 25 goals in 39 appearances over all competitions, it’s unlikely that he’s a signing Arsenal fans would welcome considering his reputation for being a flop.

The Greece international’s contract with Benfica runs out in June 2020.
