With the transfer window closing in, it is reported that Arsene Wenger is repeatedly sending scouts to watch Porto, and one particular player is sure to have caught his attention – Andre Silva

  • Andre Silva has 15 goals in 27 league matches + 6 assists
  • Right-footer in under contract until 2021
  • He scored 17 goals (with 6 assists) last season

21-year-old Portuguese star Andre Silva is proving himself week in, week out for FC Porto, and has somehow missed the media spotlight.

Officially promoted to first team just last season, in 39 games this season he’s scored 20 goals while making 8 assists, and is the highest club goal scorer.

Cristiano Ronaldo is also a fan of young player as he told RTP: “Since he started playing for Seleção, he’s been doing phenomenal work, not only for the goals, but for what he has accomplished.”

The youngster’s preferred/natural position is centre forward, but he’s also capable of playing as secondary striker or right winger. With his speed and skill to create chances and counter-attacks, he would have no problem adapting to Arsenal’s style of playing.

By Squawka’s stats, so far this season he has created 36 chances with 31 key passes and the only Arsenal forwards that have made more chances are Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

The prospect of utilising his skills alongside Sanchez and Giroud, while backed up by Ozil is sure to tempt Arsene Wenger to go for the player this summer. The only problem is that Silva has also been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, and there are reports of Olympique de Marseille determined to meet his release clause of £51.3m.

Andre Silva’s agent is Jorge Mendes and he could also be barrier in negotiations as it’s public knowledge that Arsene Wenger isn’t his biggest fan.
