Arsene Wenger dropped a hint that Arsenal are set to spend in the summer transfer window.

  • Wenger is out of contract at the end of the season
  • Ozil and Alexis are both linked with moves away from Arsenal
  • Arsenal signed Mustafi, Holding, Lucas and Xhaka last summer
  • Arsenal are currently 6th in the Premier League

Wenger spoke to the press ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League game against Manchester City and was questioned about whether he reckons the current squad is strong enough. It turns out he doesn’t, which suggests additions will be made in the summer.

“It’s a strange season because we played 20 games unbeaten, but I cannot sit here and say we have no flaws in our team, because we have,” Wenger said.

“It (the squad) is a very strong basis, but the team needs to be strengthened, of course.”

Whether Wenger will be making these signings himself or this will be left to a new manager is another question. At this rate, it’s looking increasingly likely that this Wenger will stay but he’s going to have to make a lot of changes to get fans back on side.

Arsenal need stronger players as it is; if Mesut Ozil and/or Alexis Sanchez leave, there’s going to be even more work to do.
