Theo Walcott has admitted that ‘things’ have happened and they need to be kept in the dressing room.
Recently, it was reported that Alexis Sanchez had stormed out of a training session and some of the Arsenal players had confronted him in the dressing room with one apparently having to be held back by others.
Arsene Wenger denied this but later, Robert Pires, who often trains at London Colney alongside the current players, claimed that Alexis left the pitch due to a rather firm challenge in training.
Pires also confirmed that Alexis had been punished.
Walcott is the most recent player to admit that something went down but quite rightly pointed out how this was nothing out of the ordinary and these things need to be kept in the dressing room.
“There are certain things that happen at training grounds,” Walcott said. “I’m sure it happens at every other training ground, most of the time, really. You don’t see it often at Arsenal. Things have happened. They need to stay in the dressing room and the players and staff need to sort it out. We are in it together here. We can’t be fighting each other.”
The incident in question probably would have stayed in the dressing room if Alexis wasn’t so heavily linked with a move away from north London. He’s an easy target for headlines so when someone got wind of a ‘fall out’ – if you could even call it that – at the Arsenal training ground, no matter how small, it’s no surprise that it hit the media.
