Lucas Perez is excited about the semi-final of the FA Cup and challenging for the top four in a way that makes you feel even sorrier for him.

  • Lucas cost Arsenal £17m
  • He has 7 goals and 5 assists in just under 1,000 minutes
  • Forward still dreams of playing for Spain

Lucas Perez always posts the most excitable tweets ahead of every Arsenal game, made all the worse when you know he’s not going to play no matter how happy he is. The Spaniard has only seen 265 minutes of Premier League action with the Gunners this season and stories about his levels of happiness have been constant for a while now.

But, speaking to Marca, Lucas doesn’t seem to be miserable in the slightest. “We are very excited to re-enter the Champions League and for the semifinals of the FA Cup,” he said.

Of course, no interview with an Arsenal player these days is complete without the obligatory question about Arsene Wenger’s future. Lucas thinks he will stay, even though Wenger hasn’t told anyone anything.

“The relationship I have with Wenger is good and I think he will continue, but he has not yet communicated it to anyone,” Lucas said.

Lucas is likely to miss out against Manchester City as he recovers from a thigh injury that should keep him out until around 8 April.
