Laurent Koscielny was part of the French press conference ahead of their upcoming match.

Answering questions on all sorts, some of his words seem to have already been taken out of context or twisted. For instance, it was reported that he said, “I feel good at Arsenal. My family is good in London. I’ve no reason to leave. Let’s finish as high as possible. Then I’ll see.”

This is not entirely accurate. Well, it is and it isn’t.

Here’s a run-down of what he really said, and the questions that prompted his response:

Personally, you are arguing your seventh season at Arsenal. How do you see what happens next?

“I feel good, I know the club perfectly, the people who work there. I appreciate my life in London, my family too. For now, I have no arguments for wanting to leave. I have a long term contract, I am very good where I am.”

What does Arsène Wenger inspire you about the future?

“He’s a very important person in my career. It was he who gave me the chance to Arsenal, who shaped me as a player and as a man. We are in a complicated situation, but it is not only his responsibility. We, on the pitch, have to do more.”

As you can see, what he said v what was reported are slightly different, but it’s an important difference. The reported quotes sow more doubt and uncertainty. They lead fans to fear he might leave in the summer.

There is another sets of quotes from another French site that read, “I feel good at Arsenal.

“This is my 7th season. I know the club, the supporters, the people who work there.

“I appreciate my life in London and my family too, which is important to me. I have no arguments for leaving.

“I still have a long term contract and I am focused on my goals to finish as high as possible. We will see at the end of the season what will happen but I am bound to this club for a long time.

Again, important bits certainly left out. Perhaps for brevity. Perhaps for naughtiness. Let’s see how the big boys play it, but I think we can all make a good guess.
