Former Arsenal captain (urgh) William Gallas believes that Arsene Wenger is too stubborn and because of that, and his love for the club, he will stay at Arsenal.

Gallas was speaking to SFR Sport when he said, “He will want to stay.

“He loves this club. He has been there for 20 years. He wants to win titles.

“He has not won in a long time but (his stubbornness) shows his passion. He will not want to finish on a failure.”

All signs are pointing to Wenger signing a new deal at the club.

Will it be the two-year contract that’s been waiting for him all season? Or a one-year deal? Or perhaps a one-year rolling contract as has also been suggested? Nobody knows.

What we do know is that the club are already trying to manage the fans with many of the major papers carrying stories about the spending we’ll do this summer.

It’s a clear tactic to try and soften news the club know will cause riots when announced.

Don’t worry – Wenger will spend lots and make everything ok.

Isn’t that the same message we’ve been hearing for years now?

Didn’t we already spend loads in the summer and things got worse?
