West Ham have reportedly made an enquiry about the availability of Lucas Perez according to a report in the Times.
Confident in their approach, Slaven Bilic is said to be an admirer of the Spaniard who has already become a fan favourite at the Emirates with a combination of great finishes and inexplicable omissions from the starting lineup.
Although Lucas is unhappy at not playing more regularly, his agent has already said that the player will look to stay at Arsenal to make a breakthrough.
His situation at Arsenal is certainly a strange one – reminiscent of Joel Campbell and Park Chu-Young – although Lucas is a far superior player to those two, making it all the more incomprehensible why he is benched so often.
I don’t think any Arsenal fan is calling for him to be a regular starter, but there have certainly been plenty of games he deserved a run-out and didn’t get it.
The Times also reveal that Arsenal turned down a £26m bid for Lucas from a Chinese club in January.
