Alexis Sanchez, Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud, Mohamed Elneny, David Ospina, Joel Campbell and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have all been in action for the respective countries.

  • Alexis fails to become Chile’s top scorer with missed spot-kick
  • Laurent Koscielny gives away penalty
  • Elneny scores 5th international goal for Egypt

Alexis Sanchez scored a free-kick and helped set up two goals in 22 minutes during Chile’s 3-1 World Cup Qualifier win against Venezuela in Santiago.

The forward was instrumental for his country but may need to work on his penalty-taking.

Chile are now fourth in their group, which is the last automatic spot to see them through to Russia 2018.

Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud both played for France during their 2-0 loss to Spain, in which Kos, who started, gave away a penalty after committing a foul on Gerard Deulofeu in the area.

Giroud, who came on in the 65th minute, tried to throw Hugo Lloris a bone by pointing to which direction he should go when saving the penalty but the Spurs goalkeeper didn’t listen and the spot-kick found the back of the net.

Kos later appeared to pick up a head injury after clashing heads with Thiago but he’s a tough lad, I’m sure he’s fine.

Nacho Monreal didn’t feature for Spain.

Joel Campbell played for around 80 minutes for Costa Rica against Honduras and had a pretty decent game. The World Cup Qualifier ended 1-1.

Mohamed Elneny scored for Egypt during their 3-0 friendly win over Togo.

David Ospina played for Colombia during their 2-0 World Cup Qualifier win over Ecuador.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles played for England’s u20s during their 2-0 victory over Senegal, which saw the Young Lions win the Four Nations Tournament.

Elsewhere, Takuma Asano was an unused substitute for Japan during their 4-0 World Cup Qualifier win over Thailand.
