On Thursday afternoon reports appeared claiming that Mohamed Elneny would miss the next three weeks for Arsenal with an ankle injury.
The news seemed to start with an account on Twitter that follows Egyptian football, but they gave zero indication of where they got their information from. KingFut.com state that scan results showed a tear in Elneny’s ankle ligament. A three-week return period would mean it is a minor one.
This story was picked up by a number of other outlets online, but it is noticeable that not one main nationals ran the story in their Friday editions. Given how little Arsenal news there is around this week, this story would be expected to feature. No major websites seem to be carrying the story, either.
Elneny suffered the injury against Sutton United after a hefty challenge.
Three weeks seems like a good guesstimate, but at this point, that is all it appears to be. It does not look to have been confirmed by a reliable or well-known source (at the time of writing).
