Mikel Arteta seemingly refused to celebrate Manchester City’s winning goal against Arsenal on Sunday.
The ex-midfielder played for Arsenal until the summer when he chose to take up a top coaching role alongside fellow Spaniard, Pep Guardiola, at Man City.
However, even though his new side came from 1-0 down to win against their title rivals 2-1 on Sunday, Arteta refused to celebrate. He just sat there staring blankly while the rest of his colleagues danced around high-fiving.
I think the whole ‘not celebrating’ thing is pretty stupid but, Arteta’s reactions – or lack thereof – sums up exactly what his character is like. Respectful and classy.
