There were a few rare starts for some of Arsenal’s players out on-loan in the Netherlands, with Kelechi Nwakali impressing once more but the majority of players either were unused substitutes or didn’t feature in matchday squads at all on Saturday.
Here’s a round-up:
ENGLAND
Jack Wilshere came on as a second-half substitute, but was unable to stop Bournemouth from losing 3-2 away against Burnley in one of Saturday’s 3pm kick-offs. The result leaves Eddie Howe’s side in 11th place with 18 points from 15 matches, a victory would’ve propelled them into the top eight of the Premier League.
Glen Kamara was not involved as Colchester United drew 0-0 against Mansfield Town, the 21-year-old has only played 137 minutes of League Two football this term.
Goalkeeper Ryan Huddart didn’t have a match this weekend as Eastleigh’s next fixture is an FA Cup second-round tie away against Halifax Town on December 13.
NETHERLANDS
Kelechi Nwakali scored a 90th minute goal to secure victory for MVV Maastricht during their 2-0 win over De Graafschap on Friday evening. The talented teenager played the full match and impressed, with Andries Jonker said to be in attendance during the fixture.
His defensive teammate, Stefan O’Connor, was not involved in the matchday squad, starting to raise questions as to whether he has settled into life abroad in different surroundings.
Tafari Moore started and played the full match, but Utrecht’s second string side lost 4-2 against Cambuur.
SPAIN
Jon Toral was an unused substitute during Granada’s 1-1 draw against Malaga on Friday evening. The creative midfielder hasn’t featured since a brief cameo against Valencia in late November.
