In one of the stranger transfer rumours to do the rounds recently, Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move back to Arsenal.

The Chelsea midfielder has struggled this season, although his form is starting to look up a bit recently; he even got an assist during the Blues’ 3-1 win over Manchester City.

He’s only made five Premier League appearances this season and while this is partly down to injury, he’s spent five matches this season just sat on the bench. Considering he was at Barcelona just a couple of seasons ago, it’s probably a tough pill to swallow.

According to reports, which originated in the English press and have spread very quickly overseas, Arsenal are planning a ‘shock’ move for the 29-year-old in order to strengthen our midfield following Santi Cazorla’s ankle surgery.

Cesc is contracted with our title rivals until 2019. I’ll repeat that first part: our title rivals. They would never, in a million years, sell to Arsenal. Although he’s not had a lot of time on the pitch, even Chelsea know what a player Cesc can be when used correctly, which Arsene Wenger can no doubt do since he’s done it before.

It’s a weird story. I’m just going to sit back with my popcorn and see how it develops.

In the mean time, here’s Cesc falling over an advertising board.
