Arjen Robben isn’t quite as confident that Bayern Munich will beat Arsenal this season as he has been in previous years.
Once again, the Gunners drew Bayern in the final 16 of the Champions League. To be fair, we should expect it by now.
Speaking to ESPN FC, Robben had his say on the draw, claiming that although the Bundesliga giants have ‘happy memories’, ie beating, Arsenal, this season we’re very strong and it could be more difficult.
“We’ve played them a few times over the last few years and always won — we always got through to the next round — but maybe this one will be the toughest one so far,” he said.
“For us, it’s very important that we’re at a 100 percent after the winter break when we play them. For them, the pressure is to make it to the quarterfinal for the first time in many years. Our target is always the final. But this draw doesn’t make it easy [for either team.]”
I’d like to think that we’ll give the German team a run for their money. However, it’s hard to see us winning over both legs.
This could be because we’re coming off the back of a rather lacklustre defeat to Everton. If we beat Manchester City on Sunday, I’ll probably think we can beat Bayern.
The matches don’t take place until February and March 2017. We have plenty of time to prepare.
Let’s do this.
