Former Arsenal striker, Benik Afobe, seems pretty convinced that his current club, Bournemouth, can travel to Arsenal and get a result.

The 23-year-old joined our academy at the tender age of six years old but as he grew older, he failed to really break into the first team and was instead sent out on numerous loan spells.

Finally, we decided enough is enough and sold him to Wolves, where he enjoyed a successful season before being snapped up by the Cherries for a record £10m. He was thought to be one of the main reasons why best friend Jack Wilshere chose them to go out on loan to.

The striker has found it difficult to hit his stride since moving south, scoring four goals in 15 Premier League appearances last season and none so far this term. However, Bournemouth generally aren’t doing badly at all, having earned 15 points and climbed to 10th in the table.

Their results on the road haven’t been too terrible either, with their trip to Stoke earning them all three points and a 1-0 victory at the notoriously tough stadium.

Considering Arsenal’s dodgy home form, Afobe probably has every right to feel at least semi-confident traveling to his former turf.

“In the last couple of weeks the training sessions have been really good,” he told the Cherries’ official website.

“The manager is happy with the attitude of the lads and the way we’re training, but the key thing is that we now take that into games.

“We’re going to Arsenal looking for a result. There won’t be any nerves. We’re ready to put in a performance for our fans and this football club.

“We’ve worked on tactics and systems this week and the manager wants us to go out there and express ourselves. We want to move the ball quickly and press.”

He added, “A lot goes through your mind ahead of a game such as this. Personally, I obviously think about my childhood and growing up supporting Arsenal and playing for their youth team.

“But at the end of the day we all move on. I know I’ve got a job to do here at AFC Bournemouth and I’m loving my time here right now.”
