The Arsenal Foundation has picked up the Best Football Community Scheme award at Thursday night’s Football Business Awards 2016.

Arsenal Ladies star, Alex Scott, was at the ceremony to accept the award, which celebrates the amazing work that the club does in not just the surrounding area but all over the world.

Recently, Scott visited Iraq with the charity Save the Children, which Arsenal has worked closely with for years, in order to bring football to underprivileged children and see how this affects their lives.

Football is a release, distraction and positive focus for children over the world but many aren’t in a position where they can actively take part, at least not in a safe way. This is something the Arsenal Foundation have been working to change.

The recent Arsenal Legends’ match also raised money for the same cause: building football pitches and facilities in poverty stricken areas around the world.

It’s a fantastic cause and it’s amazing that the foundation is getting recognition for everything they do.

Congratulations!
