It’s almost as if Alexis Sanchez predicted the future during his recent interview with Arsenal Player.

The Chilean has sustained a ‘low grade’ muscular injury while away training with his national team. However, before he left, he gave an interview with the club in which he pointed out that players could get injured or leave but we have to stick together.

“An important player might get injured – someone might leave, someone else might stay,” he told Arsenal Player.

“It’s tough to keep it going, but if we stick together and keep putting the running in, I think this team can win it all.”

Setting aside the fact that he’s injured, which is very annoying, the message still stands. The only way we can get through these tough periods is by standing by the team. Our squad should be deep enough to cope, it’s just down to our ‘mental strength’ to pull us through.

Also, on another note, the language he uses doesn’t sound like a player who sees himself leaving Arsenal. His contract in north London runs out in 2018 and he’s currently thought to be negotiating a new deal. It’s all gone a bit quiet but perhaps this latest interview suggests that he sees himself as part of ‘us’; as part of the unit.

I hope so.
