Arsene Wenger didn’t shy away from Arsenal’s poor record against Swansea during his presser on Thursday morning.

The boss even claimed that the Swans’ win over the Gunners last season was the final nail in the coffin that completely killed our chances of winning the Premier League.

“Last year we had a very negative experience with Swansea that killed our chance to win the championship,” Wenger said.

“We have to re-focus because all the players have been away. We have to show we can deal with being favourites, we didn’t always do it last season.”

When we hosted Swansea in March last season, we lost 2-1 and although we’d won 3-0 away earlier in the campaign, it seemed that this was the final blow.

Personally, that match was a low point from a fan’s perspective and it was the first point I really voiced my concern over going forward with Wenger as our manager. We needed change and I wasn’t convinced he was the right man for the job anymore.

I felt that loss more than any of the other humiliating defeats – and there have been a few – that we’ve suffered over the years.

Beating Swansea, and beating them well, at the Emirates on Saturday will mark a change.
