Theo Walcott played 62 minutes for England against Slovenia earlier in the week and although he didn’t put in the best display, Arsene Wenger thinks he has an explanation.

The boss was quick to point out that, as a forward, Theo needs to get some service in order to be able to positively influence the game and, since England never really got going during the 0-0 draw, he didn’t get it.

“[England] never got going and it’s quite difficult for the strikers [like Walcott],” Wenger said.

“One of his main qualities is his runs so it depends on the service he gets.”

To be fair, Wenger is right. Although Theo seemed as if he didn’t really do much and made runs which led to nowhere, he needs to be getting the right service and he wasn’t.

Although, part of it could be down to him just genuinely having a bad game or he could have grown used to having the likes of Hector Bellerin and Mesut Ozil constantly looking to play him in.

Whatever happened, hopefully he’ll return from the interlul ready to pick up where he left off for Arsenal.
