Ray Parlour has tipped Alex Iwobi to be a huge star at Arsenal while highlighting what he’s done well so far in his short Arsenal career and what he needs to do to make sure that he fulfils his potential at the club.

At an event held by 888casino, one of the UK’s leading online casinos, we caught up with former Arsenal defender Ray Parlour, who was taking part in ‘Electric Blackjack’. The game saw Ray pitted against former TOWIE star Amy Childs, with both hooked up to electric shock machines, meaning that if either made a mistake or a bad call, they received a shock from 888casino’s Blackjack expert.

After a brief chat about Blackjack and the electric shocks, Matthew Wade from Daily Cannon, moved on to a number of Arsenal matters, one of which was Alex Iwobi.

Here’s what Ray had to say about the 20-year-old.

“He’s an up and coming star, he really is.

“I really like the way he plays and he deserves his spot at the minute.

“That’s what these youngsters have to do. I think Jack Wilshere was very similar when he first got into the first team, he was very hard to leave out in the end.

“That’s what you’ve got to do, give the manager a problem.

“I think with Alex, there are some top players on the bench that he’s keeping out at the minute and that’s credit to him.

“He’s got to keep working hard.

“He’s a youngster but he must be enjoying playing with the likes of Ozil, Sanchez, the midfield they’ve got in there.

“He’s improving all the time, he’s comfortable on the ball, he can see a pass. His footwork is excellent for a big lad.

“He’s done really well and he’s just got to keep his feet on the ground and keep working hard and I’m sure he’ll be a massive star for Arsenal.

“For his age, he’s matured so much as a player. Again, there’s weaknesses there and he can work on them but what he’s shown so far…

“I think the most important thing is that he’s playing week in and week out and I think at the moment it’s hard for Arsene Wenger to leave him out.”
