Santi Cazorla has thanked the ‘amazing’ Arsenal fans, claiming that they’ve been brilliant since his first day at the club.

Speaking to IBTimes after Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Swansea on Saturday, the midfielder once again repeated that he’s happy in north London and is just focusing on playing football right now.

“In my case I will finish my contract at the end of the season but I’m not thinking about it now,” he said.

“I’m just focusing on playing and giving my best on the pitch. Last season was very difficult for me after spending so much time on the sidelines [due to a knee injury]. Now I just want to enjoy myself again – and we’ll see what happens in the future.

“I’m happy because I’m playing regularly. If I didn’t play I would tell you that I would consider leaving, but I’m having minutes and I have the confidence of the manager. That’s what every player wants.”

The 31-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of the season and although he’d be happy to stay, we’ve apparently not yet offered him an extension. I personally doubt that we won’t.

Santi went on to show his gratitude to the fans who have always had more than a little soft spot for him since he first joined us from Malaga in 2012.

“Since the very first day at this club I have had the affection of the fans, and that is amazing. I have only words of gratitude to the fans of Arsenal for how they’ve treated me from day one, and I try to repay them by giving my best on the pitch.”

Hopefully, this show of gratitude isn’t him gearing up to say goodbye. I know I’m not the only one who would love to see the little Spaniard see out his career in north London. In fact, who on earth wouldn’t?
