According to reports, Barcelona are aware that Arsenal are trying to tie Hector Bellerin down to a new contract and have therefore started looking at other options, namely Juventus’ Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Lichtsteiner is the right-back who was pushed out of the Serie A club’s starting XI when Dani Alves joined from Barcelona. Apparently, Juve are happy to sell him as long as it’s not to a rival. Funny how these things work out, eh?

The 32-year-old, having only made three appearances for Juve this season so far, is reportedly the player the Catalans will settle for instead of Bellerin, which doesn’t sound convincing to be honest. The only way it would make sense is if they were looking at a short term solution and planning on returning for Bellerin in a couple of years.

Bellerin is currently contracted with Arsenal until 2019 and there have been numerous reports claiming that we’re about to extend this. There’s no evidence to say that the Spaniard wants to leave at all.
