It seems that Arsene Wenger is just as confused about Alexis Sanchez taking a penalty during our match against Hull as we are.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 4-1 win away to the Tigers, the boss was asked about why the Chilean took the spot kick, considering Santi is usually our go-to guy for those. Alexis had his penalty saved, which lead to Twitter going into meltdown over why he was allowed to take it in the first place.

Somewhat amusingly (or concerningly, depending on how you look at it) Wenger didn’t seem to know why and instead just speculated that perhaps Santi didn’t want to take it, which would have been a bit odd.

For all we know maybe Santi just wasn’t feeling it and/or Alexis was. For whatever reason, the forward took it and missed but fortunately we still went on to win by a three-goal margin. If we hadn’t… well the players would have some explaining to do.
