Jeff Reine-Adelaide was handed a start in Arsenal’s League Cup side as they thrashed Nottingham Forest 4-0 on Tuesday night while Granit Xhaka delivered another thunderba**ard for the second game in a row.
The 18-year-old impressed, particularly in the first half, flagging somewhat in the second which is not really all that surprising given the intensity of games between Premier League and Championship sides.
It was only Jeff’s third appearance for the senior team after grabbing two matches in the FA Cup last season (9 minutes against Sunderland, 17 against Hull) but was his first start, jumping his senior minutes total from 26 to 109.
Here are his individual highlights from the game:
Granit, whom you don’t seem to hear talked about on podcasts by football writers without hearing them say ‘doesn’t get many goals’ scored his second worldie in four days to give Arsenal a lead they never relinquished.
Looking solid and intelligent, he made a strong case to be started against Chelsea on Saturday:

And, as a little bonus, here are Ainsley Mailtland-Niles personal highlights from his first start for the Arsenal:
