Chelsea goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has targeted a win against Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend as the perfect way to bounce back from the Blues’ disappointing loss to Liverpool.
Chelsea lost 2-1 to at home to Liverpool last Friday, leaving them with 10 points for the season so far. To be fair, this is the same as Arsenal, who also lost at home to the Reds on the opening day of the season. However, goalkeeper Courtois claims that beating the Gunners at the Emirates next Saturday is a good way to get back on the straight and narrow.
“We know how Leicester plays, it’s very hard there as well,” he said.
“Those cups are important and we want to win a trophy this season.
“It will be a hard game and we should react after two disappointing games at Swansea and losing at home to Liverpool. The next game away at Arsenal we should try to win like last season.”
Now that Antonio Conte has taken the place of Jose Mourinho, I have to say I’m feeling a little more confident. Not necessarily because I rate Mourinho that highly but because we appear to have this huge mental stumbling block when it comes to facing his teams.
A win for Arsenal at the Emirates against Chelsea would be a statement of intent, since we seem to have gotten our results back on track.
Until then, we have Nottingham Forest to face in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.
