Remi Garde revealed recently to L’Equipe that, at the moment, he rates Laurent Koscielny over PSG’s brazilian ‘monster’, Thiago Silva.
Thiago Silva, who captained PSG against Arsenal on Tuesday night, is one of the highest rated defenders in the world. However, since signing for the Ligue 1 side from Milan in 2012, former Aston Villa boss, Garde, believes that he’s not hit his stride yet and, right now, he’d choose Koscielny to be in his team over the Brazilian.
“With Thiago Silva at 100%, it would have been a difficult decision, but right now, I would take Koscielny,” Garde said.
“I like his pace, his restraint. With consistency and experience, he has become a leader, a teacher in the defence. He makes others better. Thiago Silva is a super defender but, since he started with PSG, where he earned the name ‘Monster’, I am still a bit hungry.”
Arsenal fans have been ranting about how Kos is one of the world’s best centre-backs for a long time and it appears that others are now beginning to catch up and realise how solid he really is.
The France international has come on leaps and bounds since he signed for the Gunners from Lorient in 2010 and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of Europe’s biggest clubs come knocking for him very soon. Bayern Munich and Barcelona have already been linked. Let’s just hope we can keep hold of him.
