After injuring his ankle during Chelsea’s draw against Swansea, John Terry is said to be recovering well and should be back in action for the Arsenal clash on Saturday.

The Blues’ captain is set to miss out on their EFL Cup match against Leicester City after damaging his ankle ligaments just over a week ago. However, according to Antonio Conte, the defender is progressing well and should be back for the weekend.

“John is recovering,” Conte said.

“I saw him outside today and he is recovering. After this game [against Leicester] we’ll see his physical condition. It’s a big week because we face two very strong teams.

“Leicester won the title last season and, this season, they’ve shown they are a very good team, also in the Champions League.

“Arsenal are a great team that will fight for the title so it’s a big week but we are ready. We know we have to work to improve because I know we can improve a lot, this is important.”

At the age of 35, Terry has seen his fair share of London Derbies. According to Transfermarkt, he’s featured in 36 games against the Gunners, 15 of those have been wins, 11 draws and 10 losses. He’s also scored five goals and got one assist against us so having him back in the Chelsea squad may not be the best thing from an Arsenal perspective.

From Terry’s point of view, Chelsea will need a positive response after losing 2-1 to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Friday. Although he wasn’t involved, he’s bound to be frustrated with the Blues’ lack of cutting edge and beating Arsenal would be a great way for the team to bounce back.

Let’s hope they don’t.
