Lucas announced his arrival in England with two goals on Tuesday night as Arsenal thrashed Nottingham Forest with a team of youngsters and fringe players (and Xhaka).
The forward, who was deemed by many to be ‘not good enough’ despite hardly ever having seen him play, showed a range of skills during the game with his second goal the pick of the bunch.
He also didn’t shirk any responsibility when he stepped up to take Arsenal’s fifth penalty in seven games. Given how awful we’ve been at them, it takes some nerve to volunteer when you’ve yet to open your account for your new club and people are already on your back because they’re morons.
Thankfully, he answered them all in the best possible way.
Taking to Twitter after the game, Lucas had this to say:
What a win! Glad I got to score my first goals for @Arsenal. Hopefully the firsts of many #YaGunnersYa pic.twitter.com/MdxVG0Mrlb
