On Thursday, Daily Cannon reported on the rumour that Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, had reduced his contract from 2020 to 2018, which he has now confirmed.
We said it was only a matter of time, since Arsene Wenger is out of contract in 2017 and Simeone has been linked with Arsenal before, that the media started to put two and two together. Of course, they already have, although what’s interesting is the fact that the Argentine has also confirmed his contract reduction.
Speaking on Friday, he said that it was best for the club. Interesting.
Simeone: "Sí, he reducido mi contrato con el Atlético de Madrid. Es lo mejor para el club".

“Yes, I have reduced my contract with Atletico Madrid,” he said. “It is best for the club.”
There’s no point discussing in detail who will take over from Arsene Wenger when we don’t even know when he’s leaving. His contract runs out at the end of this season but he could easily extend it any day. A lot, I think, depends on this season and not only how we do but how the fans react.
It’s a strange thing to think about seriously and I’m not sure I’m ready yet.
