David Ospina was Arsenal’s best player during their 1-1 draw against PSG but after the match he took time to hail the entire team’s performance rather than his own.
The goalkeeper pulled off three superb saves in the second half to deny the likes of Edinson Cavani a second goal for the Ligue 1 side. If he hadn’t, Alexis’ late goal wouldn’t have mattered and we would never have earned a point away to the group favourites.
Considering how controversial Arsene Wenger’s decision to choose the Colombian over the more experienced Petr Cech was, you would imagine that he was feeling pretty smug post-match. However, instead of basking in his own performance, Ospina praised the whole team.
It’s brilliant to see the 28-year-old growing in confidence and that his performances aren’t quite the comedy routines they were before. If he carries on, it’ll be interesting to see what becomes of Wojciech Szczesny who’s currently on loan at Roma.
I believe that Woj’s long-term future is at Arsenal but that doesn’t meant to say that Ospina can’t make Wenger second-guess this.
