Basel Captain, Matias Delgado, appears quietly confident going into the Swiss team’s Champions League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates.

The midfielder spoke to Mirror Sport about the two Xhaka brothers – Granit and Taulant – facing each other again and admitted it’s something he probably couldn’t do.

He went on to bring up his team’s ‘in shape’ league record, which is brilliant right now. They’ve won nine in nine. And then touched upon Basel’s impressive record against English clubs.

“I think everything is possible because we are in great shape at the moment,” Delgado said.

“Even the top teams in the Champions League have found out that you can’t underestimate anyone in this competition and everyone can cause surprises. We know that we’re well prepared, and we’ll do everything we can to get a result.”

The Arsenal team, by now, will be well aware of Basel’s record against English sides and should react accordingly. They’re clearly not to be underestimated so I have no doubt that we will treat them with the respect they deserve.

After Saturday’s 3-0 win over Chelsea, the Emirates should be bouncing. The atmosphere at our ground is always a bit special at Champions League matches so hopefully we can use that to our advantage.
