Back in early August Arsenal were linked with PSG’s Blaise Matuidi, who was a Manchester United target at the time and now his manager, Unai Emery, has come out to insist he’s one of the best players in the world. Okay.
The midfielder is now being linked with Chelsea as well and from the sounds of it, PSG just want to get rid of him in the most respectful way they can.
The former Sevilla boss, Emery, seems to rate him but also made it very clear that the 29-year-old probably won’t be staying at the club. Obviously, he can’t just say that, they still want to get some money for him even if PSG are ridiculously rich.
“I want the best players with me, Blaise Matuidi is one of them,” said Emery.
“I do not take the decision alone, there are three parts: the club, the player and me. I want him to stay here.
“He’s an important player for me because he represents the identity of the team. You have to see what the player wants. The club will see if there is ever an offer from another club.”
Matuidi made 48 appearances for the French champions in all competitions last season but he was by no means a regular starter. He started off consistently but trailed off as the season wore on.
He’s not signing for Arsenal, no matter how much Unai Emery rates him.
