Despite Zinedine Zidane confirming just days ago that Alvaro Morata would be staying with Real Madrid, reports coming out of Spain are still claiming that the striker wants to move to Arsenal.

After signing from Juventus, it was always presumed that Real would sell Morata on for a profit, considering their buy-back clause was so low. However, the rumours linking the 23-year-old away from La Liga died down and sure enough, Zidane confirmed that Morata would be staying.

This isn’t nearly straight forward enough for the media, specifically El Confidencial, who are still trying to convince everyone that not only does Morata want to leave but that he wants to move to Arsenal.

It’s not happening. Just because he’s pretty far behind Real’s star players in the pecking order doesn’t meant to say he won’t try and fight for a place. If Zinedine Zidane wants you at the club, you’re going to stay at that club.

I do think our interest in him was genuine at one point but now that ship has well and truly sailed, whether Zidane is playing mind games in order to sell him on for an even higher price or not.
