According to France Football, Arsenal have set their sights on yet another centre-back just in case our supposed deal with Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi doesn’t go through.
The deal for Mustafi is all up in the air if reports are to be believed. Therefore, it would be sensible to line someone up just in case, right? Well, apparently, this is what we’re doing.
Marcel Tisserand is a 23-year-old centre-back from Monaco. Last season, he made 31 Ligue 1 appearances, even scoring a goal, and is decent in the air and at general defensive work but his ability to hold onto the ball and pass it is lacking. Not good for an Arsenal player.
France Football: While Shkodran Mustafi talks continue, Arsenal are also looking at Fabian Schar (Hoffenheim) and Marcel Tisserand (Monaco)

Are we actually interested? Well, according to GFFN’s report, contact has been made but a deal is unlikely, which makes sense. However, I’m still skeptical of this, considering it feels as if we’re just putting more pressure on Valencia to lower their price for Mustafi.
Having said all this, not putting all our eggs in Mustafi’s basket is a sensible move.
