QPR are allegedly closing in on signing former Arsenal striker, Nicklas Bendtner, on a free transfer after the Dane was released by Wolfsburg earlier in the year.

A player who has squandered amazing opportunities since he first signed with Arsenal in 2005, sources close to QPR told ESPN that the Championship side are willing to give him a chance to get his career back on track (before it’s over) with a move to Loftus Road.

There is no doubting Bendtner’s talent and if the right boss can get him to fulfil even a fraction of it, then they will have a decent player on their hands. The problem is that no manager has been able to get past his own unshakeable self-belief, and when you already think you’re the best, why bother trying to improve?

A career total of 76 goals in 305 games with 34 assists, Bendtner has not played competitive football since 6th February, not completed 90 minutes since April 2015 and has not found the back of the net since October 2015. In the Bundesliga last season he picked up as many yellows as he did goals – two of each.

Hopefully this move goes through pretty quickly, if for no other reason than to ensure he’s not available on deadline day when Arsene gets ready for supermarket sweep.
