It was the transfer rumour that appeared out of nowhere but Deportivo La Coruna forward, Lucas Perez, is now an Arsenal player.

That’s right, it’s on Arsenal.com.

The 27-year-old year old has reportedly signed for €20m (£17.1m) and scored 24 goals (17 assists) in 58 La Liga appearances for Deportivo since he signed for them in 2014, with 17 (11 assists) of those coming just last season.

The Spaniard is known for making key passes and holding up the ball, hence his high assist rate.

At 1.81m tall, Perez is shorter than Olivier Giroud (1.92m) so will give us another, potentially speedier, dynamic when it comes to our attack.

Arsenal have needed a new striker for a long time and hopefully Perez will help fill a gap that everyone knew we had. He’s an experienced player on the up and I’m sure will fit in just fine at the Emirates.

Speaking about Perez recently, Wenger said, “He’s not only a goalscorer, he’s a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs. He’s got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year.”

Stay with us and we’ll give you all the latest on Arsenal’s new striker.
