Arsenal reportedly face stiff competition from just about every club in Europe if they want to sign Marcel Tisserand.

According to reports coming from France and Spain, Monaco defender, Tisserand, is wanted by a number of teams: Espanyol, Real Betis, Saint Etienne, Bordeaux and a Manchester-based club. As well as Arsenal, obviously. He’s also previously been linked with Leicester City.

La Liga’s Espanyol appear to be the front runners. However, the player supposedly wants to come to Arsenal.

Although the Gunners have signed Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, another centre-back, albeit temporary, would be a really sensible plan. Especially if we do end up loaning out Calum Chambers. However, that doesn’t mean to say it’ll happen.

Talk of Tisserand coming to the Emirates has gathered pace recently but, for all we know, that’s just because the window is about to draw to a close.

He was a key player for his loan team, Toulouse, last season, making 33 Ligue 1 appearances so he wouldn’t be a bad addition, if it were to happen.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that this is his agent trying to get him a place at a new club, considering he was loaned out by Monaco last term and therefore might not feature heavily in their future plans. However, we won’t truly know if this is a) the case and b) paid off until the window shuts.

If the reports are to be believed and all these clubs do want him, the 23-year-old is going to have quite a big decision on his hands…
